Wolverhampton welcomes the Olympic Torch to the city on Saturday June 30, 2012. After just watching the Lands End beginning of the relay on the news just I can see the whole thing becoming annoying and over exaggerated.
Well Wolves Forum, I really like it I would like to have been a torch bearer, but there was no point in me applying because I am just a regular person (not done loads of charity work or sports, and haven't got a sob story) so I would have had no chance. I am going to see it, are you?
I'm sure your not just a normal person YanYang maybe you could make your own tourch and follow them round
Torch is enroute to Staffordshire at the moment I heard on the radio just that it will be in Gnosall at 4:30
The route that the Olympic Torch will take through Wolverhampton as it makes it way to London for the 2012 Olympic Games has been unveiled. Wolverhampton has been chosen to be part of the Olympic Torch Relay on Saturday June 30, 2012, giving the city's residents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to welcome the Olympic Flame to the region. People will be encouraged to line the streets of the city and take part in a series of special events which are taking place as the Torchbearers carry the Flame through the Black Country. The six-and-a-half mile route through Wolverhampton, will see the Flame arrive at the Wolverhampton boundary from the Walsall direction at approximately 2.40pm and travel towards the city centre along the A454 Willenhall Road. It will then join Horseley Fields before crossing the Ring Road, going briefly onto Bilston Street and turning right into Pipers Row. Passing the new bus station at around 3.20pm, the Flame will be carried onto Lichfield Street and then along Victoria Street and Salop Street before leaving the city centre via Ring Road St Marks and St Johns. It will then join the A4123 Birmingham Road at its junction with Ring Road St Johns at around 3.40pm and will head south east along what becomes the Birmingham New Road towards Dudley, crossing the Wolverhampton city boundary just after 4.15pm.
A dedicated Wolves Olympic Torch Facebook page has been set up so people can follow updates and see what activities are on offer along the route as it makes its way to the city. In the meantime, here is some information about what will be happening in the city on the day the torch passes through: Blue Peter at West Park on Saturday June 30, 2012 Carnival style city celebration on Saturday June 30, 2012

Hopefully the weather brightens up, I would like to pop down and see the Olympic torch - just to say I did kind of thing.
From what i've heard and the pictures posted on the Stafford forum after the torch it'self there are Coca Cola float/ vehicles in the procession. I'm sure its a great experience but it's all a bit 'coked' up for me. Would like to see but i'm not good with crowds. G
Personally I think the torch should be carried by local people who live in Wolverhampton or have a strong connection, not some presenter that works for Blue Peter and happens to be doing a broadcast in Wolves. Pfft.
"Skelton was born at the City Maternity Hospital, Fusehill Street, Carlisle on 19 July 1983." How did she qualify to carry the torch in Wolverhampton? You're right Wolveforum, it is ridiculous. She's not from Wolverhampton, she doesn't live in Wolverhampton.....
